Starting Monday, January 9, more than half a million eighth-graders will have to indicate the high school they will attend in September. The application for registration is only submitted online, through the website of the Ministry of Education, and in the school secretariats will be given assistance to families in difficulty with the computer procedure. According to an article in Il Messaggero paper, “The 530,883 students who are attending the third year at the middle school are called to decide: this is a number that is falling over previous years. In fact, more than 8,300 pupils are missing compared to 539,209 a year ago. It is therefore 1.5% less than in 2021-2022”. It is a clear sign of the ongoing demographic decline that has reached even the lowest age groups, such as those in middle school. In September, more than 8,000 fewer children will enter a high school class. It is time to choose which institution to sign up for, but the decision is not so simple: only one student out of two really has clear ideas. The rest is full of doubts.” This is what emerges from a survey by Skuola.net, according to which only 50% of respondents say they have already decided both the address and the institution to sign up for, while 25% have chosen only the address, without having decided which institution to apply to. Then there's the last 25% left in the dark.
