The market is still in its infancy, but agrivoltaics in Italian agriculture is taking its initial steps. In addition, the land rental industry is exploding. Prices range from 2,500 to 3,500 euros per hectare per year with minimum 20-year contracts, although in some regions of the Po Valley, agri-photovoltaic plant management businesses offer prices as high as 4,000 euros hectare per year using Istat's automatic revaluation, for as long as thirty years. This was the conclusion reached during a meeting sponsored by the Verona Fair. Italian farmers are increasingly contemplating the idea of leasing land for a combined solution of electricity production through suspended agrivoltaic panels and an underlying crop. Due to the NRRP and the Rural Development Programs of the new European CAP, the renewable energy sector is at the center of investments by agricultural enterprises following the spike in energy costs caused by speculation related to the conflict in Ukraine.
