In a year full of challenges and unknowns, the wood furniture industry's 12.7% growth in 2022 served as a frame, rewarding the hard work, high standards, and innovative spirit of the sector that serves as the flagship of Made in Italy and which now generates about €57 billion (in 2019 it was just over 43 billion euros). Volume-wise, this rise is still mildly positive even after accounting for the impact of prices. The data of ISTAT 2022, processed by the FederlegnoArredo Study Center, demonstrate that the supply chain has increased by 12.7% since 2021. This increase is the result of a +11.1% increase in the Furniture Macrosystem (the production turnover is close to 29 billion euros), a +14.3% increase in the Wood Macrosystem (the production turnover is over 23 billion euros), and a +15% increase in the Wood Trade, which now exceeds 4 billion euros. In terms of the Italian market (worth 35.6 billion euros), the supply chain expanded by 12.3 percent, largely due to the Wood Macrosystem and primarily driven by the building finishing sectors (doors, windows, wooden floors) which benefited from the advantages of the various building bonuses.
