A 20 million euro plan, mainly to support small municipalities, is the project on Roots Tourism, which is included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), now aimed at coming faster and entering the operational phase. The sector involves Italians abroad and people of Italian descent (a pool estimated at more than 80 million people worldwide) who want to return to Italy to rediscover their origins. It is an ambitious plan, launched long ago but which yesterday at the Farnesina pulled together institutions, municipalities, public and private administrations for a moment of synthesis and relaunch, also in view of the 2024 Year of Roots Tourism. According to Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the project "aims at the growth of tourism in our country, looking not only at big cities but especially at small towns".
