There is talk that by the end of the year, the Italian citizenship income program as we know it will be scrapped in favor of a new program called Mia. According to the draft text for the new poverty subsidy, Mia (Social Inclusion Measure) will replace citizenship income starting from 2024, with applications for the old measure still being accepted until August 31. The government has so far prepared a draft of twelve articles. This reform project divides beneficiary families into two macro categories: those over 60, minors, or disabled on the one hand, and those without these categories on the other. In addition, even minors with at least 16 years of age will be required to actively participate, whether through training or work, if they are not engaged in a course of study, since this extends to "all members of the adult family unit or minors who have fulfilled school obligations".
