In 2022, there are 6,000 fewer women's businesses than in 2021. As a result of a general context still tainted by the effects of the pandemic, war, and energy crisis, far fewer women started businesses in traditional sectors last year (agriculture, commerce, manufacturing, hotels and restaurants). On the other hand, as illustrated by the photograph taken by the Unioncamere and InfoCamere Observatory for Female Entrepreneurship, the most innovative entrepreneurship has accelerated, driven by the sectors with the highest knowledge content: there are 2 thousand more female companies in professional activities, nearly 1,500 more active in real estate activities, about a thousand more in communication services and financial activities, and 800 more in rental, travel agencies. By the end of 2022, 1,337,000 female businesses had been registered, accounting for 22.21% of all companies. The evolution of women's businesses over the last year clearly demonstrates a shift in women's participation in the manufacturing system. This year, some female entrepreneurial strongholds have faltered: Commerce (where women lead nearly 340 thousand businesses and account for 24% of the total sector) has lost 7,700 female businesses; agriculture (where women lead 203,000 businesses and account for more than 28% of the total) has lost over 4,000; and accommodation and catering activities (where women lead 134 thousand businesses and account for 29% of the total) has lost 1,200 female businesses.
