71.6% of Italians agree with President Macron's comments in an interview that the EU should become a more independent power from the US. This is the result of Termometro Politico's weekly survey, which was conducted between April 11 and 13. Those who agree do so with caveats: 42.3% believe there should be no hegemony within the EU, while 29.3% believe it is necessary to remain allies of Washington and closer to the US than to Russia and China. The number of people who oppose Macron's words is 26.3%, with 15.4% believing that Italy should have a foreign policy independent of both the US and the EU.
