Tak Wah Mak is the winner of the Pezcoller Prize - AACR 2023 for cancer research. The announcement was made by Pezcoller Foundation President Enzo Galligioni at a press conference in Trento, Italy. "Tak Wah Mak is undoubtedly one of the greatest, among the winners of the Pezcoller-AACR International Prize, a leader in global oncology research, capable of tackling the most challenging problems and solving them in innovative ways," Galligioni said. The awardee with his studies has influenced and transformed several fields of research, through an extraordinary series of discoveries laid the foundation for a new understanding of the biology of cancers and how to fight them. Tak W. Mak was proclaimed the winner during the annual meeting of the American Association of Cancer Research held on Sunday, April 16, in Orlando, Florida, in the presence of more than 20 thousand researchers from around the world. The traditional award ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, May 13, in Trento, Italy, at the Teatro Sociale, in the presence of the public, authorities and representatives of the health, academic and business communities. The endowment of the Pezcoller Prize is 75 thousand euros, and is awarded by the Foundation together with the AACR, the American Association of Cancer Research, which represents many tens of thousands of researchers worldwide.
