The language of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023 is Italian. With the invitation to Mahmood, who has been invited by the BBC to perform as a guest on the final evening on the stage of the Liverpool Arena, four Italian artists will take part in this year's edition. Mahmood is making his third appearance at Eurovision: he represented Italy in Tel Aviv 2019 following his victory in Sanremo with the song "Soldi," and he performed an encore last year in Turin with Blanco following his performance at Sanremo 2022 with "Brividi." It is the first time that an Italian singer has been invited to perform outside of competition at a Eurovision edition held outside of Europe. "I am overjoyed to be back at Eurovision. I thank the organizers for inviting me as a guest, and it is a great honor for me. I can't wait to take that prestigious stage in front of a world-class audience", says Mahmood. Marco Mengoni will represent Italy with a unique and rearranged version of "Due Vite," the winning song from the previous Sanremo Festival. Alessandra from Savona, representing Norway, and Piqued Jacks from Pistoia, representing San Marino, will be the other Italians competing in Liverpool.
