The Vera Pizza Contest, the long-awaited world championship of homemade pizza signed by AVPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana), is back. After the huge success of last year's edition, which saw more than 1,300 pizzas submitted from 56 countries in every corner of the planet and a social community of more than 95,000 likes, the challenge presents a great novelty: the baton of the jury passes from the people of Facebook to a technical jury composed of professional pizza makers and experts in the field. In the first phase of the contest, from midnight yesterday to May 7, aspiring pizzaioli can apply by sending a photo of their pizza via Messenger to the AVPN Facebook page @verapizzanapoletana. This will be followed by the selection by the association's masters of the best 10 pizzas in each of the three weeks, which will go to a free membership in the True Neapolitan Pizza Club and the brand new Verace Pizza Box. Final judging will take place in the second phase by May 10. At this point the jury will have to draw up the ranking decreeing the three finalists who will have the honor of making in front of the jurors her majesty the Margherita and a pizza of their choice. Moreover, in addition to the virtual stage of the elimination phases, this 2023 edition adds the grand final in Naples (Monday, May 29 and Tuesday, May 30) that will see the top three in the rankings compete, this time in presence.
