It is Italy's biggest agrivoltaic park and the first to be created under a Corporate PPA (Power purchase agreement) contractual format between two private companies: Engie and Amazon. The park, which spans an area of 115 hectares and has an installed capacity of 66 MW, was opened yesterday at an area midway between Marsala and Mazara del Vallo in the province of Trapani. A 100 million Green loan from CDP, Societé Generale, and BNP Paribas made this project feasible. The land will be cultivated to grow not just vines and olive trees, but also almond trees, and a variety of aromatic and offinicial plants including rosemary, laurel, lavender, and asparagus, all while producing sustainable energy. The agreement between Engie and Amazon stipulates the construction of a second 38 MW agrivoltaic site in Patern, Catania Province: the two plants will have a total installed capacity of 104 MW and will also power Amazon's operations in Italy.
