There are 12 Italian films that will compete for the nomination to represent Italy in the selection for the International Feature Film Award category of the 96th Academy Awards. Films distributed in Italy or abroad (excluding the United States), or slated for distribution, in the period between December 1, 2022 and October 31, 2023, have proposed their candidacy. The selection committee, established at the National Association of Film and Audiovisual Industry at the request of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will meet to vote on the nominated title on September 20, 2023. Shortlists are scheduled to be announced on December 21, 2023, Nominations will be announced on January 23, 2024 while the Oscars ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on March 10, 2024.
