In fact, the Azzurri needed only one point against Sweden to hit the target after Chile's loss to Canada. Arnaldi, number 47 ATP, prevailed over Borg Jr, number 334, in two sets with the score 6-4, 6-3 in 1 hour and 22 minutes of play.
