Air disaster at Turin Caselle Airport, where a plane of the Frecce Tricolore National Aerobatic Team crashed on Saturday. The formation had just taken off to head for Vercelli, where it was to perform an air show, when for reasons yet to be ascertained, the Pony 4 aircraft piloted by Major Oscar Del Do' lost altitude and crashed to the ground. The pilot, immediately before impact, managed to perform the ejection maneuver. The cause of the crash cannot be confirmed at this time. One of the hypotheses under consideration, given the dynamics of the event, is that of an impact of the aircraft with a bird (in technical jargon "bird strike") during the very early stages of takeoff. The fire that developed as a result of the aircraft's impact on the ground unfortunately involved a car in transit on the perimeter of the airport with four people on board, causing the death of a 5-year-old girl and the injury of the other three occupants of the vehicle, the two parents and her 12-year-old brother, who is currently hospitalized with severe burns on 30 percent of his body. It has been reported that during the moments before impact, the pilot tried to position the plane so that it avoided houses.
