The wait is over. On December 14, 2015, Italy won the right to host the Ryder Cup 2023. The path to achieve it lasted 2,846 days, also marked by a one-year postponement due to Coronavirus. The competition is scheduled to take place at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome from September 29 to October 1. A flurry of events is planned in the city with the arrival of Team Europe led by Luke Donald and Zach Johnson's Team USA. The Ryder Cup is a show within a show. From the All Star Match (an exhibition also under the banner of social inclusion), which featured sports champions from Novak Djokovic to Carlos Sainz, from Andryi Shevchenko to Gareth Bale, to the Gala Dinner at the Baths of Caracalla. Yesterday, the competing teams gathered at the Spanish Steps for an official photo, then they paraded down Via dei Condotti. Today in the Ryder Cup Village at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, the opening ceremony will be held instead. From tomorrow, Friday, September 29, to Sunday, October 1, the field will do the talking instead. The continental team, united under a single flag that has among its vice-captains two Italian nationals, namely brothers Francesco and Edoardo Molinari, is chasing redemption after a narrow defeat (19-9) in Wisconsin in 2021. Meanwhile, the American team dreams of a feat that has been missing overseas for 30 years.
