The Italian team MousquetAIRe won the Paris DefInSpace 2023 international hackathon conducted by the French Military Space Command. The Italian success is completed with the affirmation, in second place of the generalist teams, of the Air Force Academy of Pozzuoli. "We are proud of this brilliant affirmation of our young people," says Prof. Luigi Carrino, president of the DAC-Campania Aerospace District and the man in charge of the Italian stage of DefInSpace 2023, "because it highlights both their skills and enthusiasm in research in our sector, as well as the right role that these young people can play in the international arena." MousquetAIRe and EPIC (the French team who won the generalist division) were awarded a trip to the European Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana. The 24 hours of work and comparison of the 10 teams (for a total of 48 participants including students and PhD students from various Italian universities) took place simultaneously with several countries (France, Cyprus, United Arab Emirates, Italy, Mexico, Peru, and Singapore) for a total of 348 participants in 82 teams. Companies such as Adler Group, Airbus, Leonardo, ThalesAlenia Space, and Powerflex collaborated on the Italian portion of the hackathon.
