A new wing of the Royal Palace of Caserta opens to the public on Friday, March 1, and the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, is expected to attend the opening on Thursday, February 29. After nearly a century, 3,000 square meters will thus become accessible again, making visible yet another large portion of architect Luigi Vanvitelli's (1700-1773) masterpiece. The Ministry of Culture has in fact recovered the rooms of the Grand Gallery returned by the Air Force Specialists School and intended to host temporary exhibitions: an intervention that closes the year of Vanvitellian Celebrations. The west wing of the Royal Palace thus becomes a museum area: the ground floor will host educational activities, a conference room and the new bookshop; on the second floor, rooms and service compartments for temporary exhibitions. For the occasion, the museum chose to dedicate the inauguration of the newborn spaces to the perspective of architect Vanvitelli's work with a photo exhibition.
