Security, stability, energy cooperation, education and vocational training collaboration. These are the topics that President of the Republic Mattarella will address on his official trip to Côte d'Ivoire and the state in Ghana that began yesterday and will end tomorrow. Mattarella had been to Ethiopia in 2016, Angola in 2019, and Mozambique and Zambia in July 2022. With the present return and the Mattei Plan, Africa has re-entered the priorities of Italian foreign policy. Mattarella's visit to Côte d'Ivoire is the first official visit by an Italian head of state and follows a formal invitation issued by President Alassane Ouattara in September 2022. Also at the Quirinal Palace, Mattarella had received, in July 2023, the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who had invited him to Accra, where, before him, only Giorgio Napolitano had been on a state visit, in July 2007.
