Master in medicinal chemistry at 102 years old. This is what occurred to a resident at the Umberto Primo retirement home in Pordenone, who, after 75 years, was able to overcome a bureaucratic hurdle and earn the title. The ceremony was held online on the initiative of the University of Modena, where the 102-year-old Gianluigi Giovetti was born and studied before graduating in chemistry in 1947. At the time, he was also pursuing a course of study in Medicinal Chemistry with the intention of entering the family pharmacy, the ancient Sant'Omobono. However, due to bureaucracy, according to the Messaggero Veneto, he was not acknowledged for his laboratory practice, which was required to pass the final exam. It was 1949.
