In Italy, approximately 1.7 million young people aged 15 to 29 have not studied, worked, or trained for more than 6 months. Despite the fact that our country has the second highest rate of NEETs in the EU (16.1%), trailing only Romania (19.8%), we risk returning approximately 1 billion euros to Europe for failing to use the resources of the National Operational Programme - Youth Employment Initiative. In fact, Italy received approximately 2.7 billion euros between 2014 and 2020 to reintegrate young NEETs into the workforce.
