Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met with Anna Torretta, Cristina Piolini, and Silvia Loreggian, members of the female mountaineering expedition "K2-70," which will attempt to reach the summit of K2 this summer to mark the 70th anniversary of the first ascent by the Italian mission in 1954. The meeting took place yesterday at Palazzo Chigi. Meloni also met with Antonio Montani, General President of the CAI; Massimiliano Ossini, who will produce a documentary on the expedition for Rai; and Agostino Da Polenza, head of the expedition and president of EvK2-CNR. "We are honored that Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni received us and some members of the female mountaineering expedition, organized and supported by the Italian Alpine Club," Montani stated. "We illustrated to President Meloni not only the celebratory significance of the 70th anniversary of the first ascent of K2 and the mountaineering value of the female expedition but also its scientific and social importance, including the cooperation projects in Pakistan."
