Mother at the age of 63. It happened to Flavia Alvaro, a resident of the province of Lucca, who at Versilia Hospital in Lido di Camaiore gave birth by cesarean section to a baby boy after undergoing in vitro fertilization in Ukraine, in Kiev. A true "record-breaking" birth. The infant, 2 kilograms his weight, was born at 31 weeks and 4 days. The delivery took place last Monday, almost as an emergency: the mother’s blood pressure had risen, and the doctor saw fit to intervene immediately. The pregnancy, the gynecologist reports, had been uneventful. The doctor explains that the woman, 64 in October, "wanted this child very badly and flew to Ukraine twice". A first attempt two years ago had failed: she had miscarried at 14 weeks. Then the new fertilization happened last fall when the woman, despite the war, returned to Ukraine, where there is no 50-year limit. Now the baby is in the preterm ward: as soon as he reaches a healthy weight, his mother will be able to take him home where his 93-year-old grandmother is also waiting for him.
