More innovation, more safety, less energy consumption. Autostrade per l'Italia is testing an experimental project that aims to make road lighting more efficient, exploiting technology to increase motorists' safety and comfort. Specifically, the most recent project on the Roma Sud Branch of the A1 Highway, at the Torrenova junction, involves the installation of an active "grazing light" signage system, consisting of 41 LED projectors mounted directly on the road barrier at a distance of 4.5 meters from each other and a height of 0.9 cm from the ground. This creates an optical guide that illuminates the contours of the road, making the stretch more visible and therefore safer. The devices, with a power output of 16W, are placed inside the safety barrier blade on the interchange ramp.
