Over €7.5 billion transacted, over 608,000 accommodations offered online, commissions collected by hosts, and service fees paid by customers totaling more than €1.2 billion. These figures summarize the Airbnb phenomenon in Italy for 2023. A phenomenon whose impact on the hospitality industry is growing year after year. Indeed, the value of transactions on the US platform has been steadily increasing, with a figure that was just over 4.1 billion in 2019 and has experienced an 82% increase in the past five years. Italy is an important destination for the platform. Italy accounts for 11.8% of Airbnb's global turnover. The majority of revenues are concentrated in three regions: Tuscany, Lazio, and Lombardy, which generate an economic value of 3.2 billion euros.
