With the end of the school year, more than one-third of parents (36%) start looking for summer camps for their children. These gathering places are a viable alternative for those who are preoccupied with work and those who maintain the belief that it is still crucial for children and adolescents to engage with their peers in a manner that is not influenced by smartphones, consoles, or television after the conclusion of the academic year. This is according to a Coldiretti/Ixe' survey, coinciding with the start of the "colonies" season in Italy, which traditionally begins after the end of primary and secondary school commitments with proposals and activities. "Among those who are not interested in summer camps, 28% are because they have the opportunity to let their children stay with someone else in the family, especially grandparents (28%) but there is also 13% who give up for economic reasons while another 5% do not even try because of the scarcity of the offer compared to the needs of families”, according to the information provided by Coldiretti/Ixe'.
