Following Carlo Ancelotti's interview with Il Giornale ("FIFA should forget that players and clubs compete in that tournament. A single Real Madrid match is worth €20 million; FIFA would like to give us that amount for the entire competition"), Florentino Perez's club denied its coach with an official note: "Real Madrid C. F. communicates that at no time did it doubt its participation in the new Club World Cup that FIFA will organize in the next 2024/2025 season. As a result, our club will compete in this official competition as planned, with pride and the hope of returning to make our millions of fans around the world dream of a new title". Ancelotti was forced to take a stance on what was reported by the newspaper Il Giornale, and he did so on X with the following words: "In my interview, the words about the FIFA Club World Cup were interpreted differently than what my intentions were. There is nothing further from my interest than passing up the opportunity to compete in a tournament that I believe would be an excellent opportunity to continue fighting for major titles with Real".
