The carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of Naples discovered that the Contini clan, an important component of the "Secondigliano Alliance," had taken control of a hospital. The District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA) coordinated the military's 11 arrests (8 in prison and 3 under house arrest) and numerous seizures of members of the criminal organization that operates in various areas of Naples, including San Giovanniello, Borgo San Antonio Abate, Ferrovia, Vasto-Arenaccia, Stadera-Poggioreale, and Rione Amicizia. The hospital in question is San Giovanni Bosco, which was already the subject of an investigation by the Naples Public Prosecutors' Office in 2019. Federica Colucci, the judge in charge of the preliminary investigations in Naples, stated that "the powerful organization has in fact appropriated entire commercial and entrepreneurial sectors, as well as crucial public facilities, such as some of Naples' most important hospitals. These structures were used not only to host criminal summits or to welcome victims of usury and extortion, but also as a tool for mafia power management".
