A network of lookalikes was used to pass entrance selections into the police force. Between 2017 and 2021, seventeen would-be police officers, penitentiary officers, Carabinieri, and firefighters allegedly passed the written tests by having better-prepared people impersonate them instead. Rome prosecutors sought indictment for fraud or impersonation in a broader investigation involving more than 50 candidates. However, due to the lack of concrete evidence of guilt, it appears to be moving toward dismissal for many of them.
