The number of confirmed dengue virus infections reported to the National Institute of Health between the beginning of the year and June 10, 2024, has increased to 259. There have been no deaths reported. All reported cases were contracted while traveling abroad and later reported in Italy. This was reported in today's update to the arbovirus dashboard. From January to June 10, 2024, the national surveillance system shows: 259 confirmed cases of Dengue (all associated with travel abroad, median age of 43 years, 50% male, and no deaths); 4 confirmed cases of Zika Virus (all associated with travel abroad, no deaths); 4 confirmed cases of Chikungunya (all associated with overseas travel, no deaths); 12 confirmed cases of neuro-invasive TBE infection (all autochthonous, median age of 55 years, 67% male, and no deaths); 2 confirmed cases of neuro-invasive infection by Toscana Virus (all autochthonous, no deaths).
