The victim of the Gran Paradiso accident is an Italian mountaineer from Veneto who fell approximately 300 meters, according to preliminary investigations. The man was with a climbing partner and had spent the night at the Chabod Hut. Starting and arriving at the top of the north face, they had to descend for a short distance to reach the summit; the accident occurred precisely at this point, where you would normally abseil. The alarm was raised by a group of mountaineers who were in the area and witnessed the scene, and the victim's body was recovered by men from the Aosta Valley Alpine Rescue, who arrived by helicopter and were taken to the Courmayeur cemetery morgue.
