The second trial for the massacre at the Lanterna nightclub in Corinaldo (Ancona), which killed five minors and a 39-year-old mother on the night of December 7 and 8, 2018, ended with acquittals for the most serious crimes. All of the defendants were acquitted of multiple manslaughter and unintentional disaster charges because "no crimes had been committed". Quinto Cecchini, the disco's manager, is among those who were acquitted. Former mayors Principi, Gallo, Bruni, Martelli, and Manna were sentenced to one year in prison, Milani to one year and two months, and Tarsi to four months. All sentences were suspended, and any claims for damages were dismissed. That tragic night, the venue was packed with young people waiting for singer Sfera Ebbasta to perform when pepper spray was used, causing panic. During the crush along an external ramp, the balustrades collapsed, killing six. Emma Fabini, Asia Nasoni, Mattia Orlandi, Daniele Pongetti, Benedetta Vitali, and Eleonora Girolimini, a 39-year-old mother who had gone to the concert with one of her four children, were among those killed. The victims' families reacted with bitterness and indignation. "It was another murder of our children; the state should be ashamed", Emma's father, Fazio Fabini, said. Benedetta's brother, Francesco Vitali, further stated, "The words are more difficult to articulate today than they were when my sister left, as they murdered her once more. I thought the hearings would conclude all of that, but today was just the cherry on top".
