It is all confirmed. The African anticyclone Minos is about to sweep across almost all of Italy, causing temperatures to rise by nearly 10°C above average for the season. The anticyclone will usher in summer 2024 with its sweltering heat and muggy conditions. Good weather will prevail, with practically clear skies in the center-south and partly cloudy in the north. In the coming days, however, temperatures will take center stage. The escalation of African heat will be gradual until Tuesday, with maximum temperatures around 32-34°C in the Centre-North and above that in Puglia, Sicily, and Sardinia. The heat will intensify from Wednesday to Friday. The hottest days appear to be those of Thursday 20 (summer solstice) and Friday, when maximum values in the Center-South will reach peaks of 39-40°C in Rome, Naples, Terni, Macerata, Florence, and in the North in Forlì and Ferrara. Higher temperatures (up to 42-44°C) are expected in the inland areas of Sardinia and Sicily.
