Imperia is ranked first among Italian provincial capitals with the best climate in 2023. This is supported by the climate livability index, which Corriere della Sera and iLMeteo.it have conducted for the third consecutive year. The Ligurian city is close to a thousand points overall (it stops at 999) based on 17 parameters, edging out Biella by 8 points. The Piedmontese city is the true surprise of 2023. Despite being plagued by drought in recent years, it capitalized on its hilly location to alleviate the heat index (a combination of temperature, humidity, wind, and solar radiation), which is a negative metric that affects the localities of the Po Valley, as well as tropical nights, in which the minimum temperature never falls below 20 degrees, which also affects the region. Agrigento (which is having a difficult year due to a lack of water) came in third place, trailing only Cuneo (925) and Macerata (908).
