He has repeatedly criticized the actions of Pope Francis, calling for his resignation, and now Monsignor Carlo Maria Viganò is accused of schism. The former Nuncio to the US has been summoned by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, what used to be the Holy Office. "I consider the accusations against me an honor. No Catholic worthy of the name can be in communion with this Bergoglio’s Church," Monsignor Viganò said. The Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith invited Viganò to come forward "to take note of the accusations and the evidence about the crime of schism of which he is accused". And what he is accused of, specifically, are "public statements from which there is a denial of the elements necessary to maintain communion with the Catholic Church: denial of the legitimacy of Pope Francis, rupture of communion with Him and rejection of the Second Vatican Council".
