Physically active adults in Italy between the ages of 18 and 69 are 48%, just under one in two. Those who are only partially so are 24%, while sedentary people are 28%. Sedentariness increases with age: it is around 24% between the ages of 18 and 34, then increases to 33% between the ages of 50 and 69. It is more frequent in women and people with a more disadvantaged socioeconomic status and occurs more in southern regions, one example above all Campania, where it peaks at 50%. This is the picture for the two-year period 2022-2023 drawn by the Passi and Passi d’Argento (Steps and Silver Steps) surveillance systems of the Superior Institute of Health.
