Last Sunday evening, June 23, an unusual light show caught the attention of many in the skies over southern Italy. The phenomenon, characterized by several distinct elements, included a whitish and bluish hourglass-shaped halo with a brighter central part, a roundish cloud slightly higher to the left, and a sharp streak of bright dots even higher up. Numerous witnesses captured the event, flooding social media with images and videos that quickly went viral. This luminous phenomenon was caused by a rocket launch. Specifically, it was a Falcon 9 Block 5 from SpaceX, the private aerospace company founded by tycoon Elon Musk. At 7:15 p.m. (Italian time) on June 23, the Starlink 10-2 mission kicked off with the liftoff of the Falcon 9 from the Space Launch Complex 40 launch pad in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
