"Trieste is a beautiful city at the crossroads of many cultures, with a fascinating history. It is also a very lively city, with the basins of Austria, Croatia, Slovenia behind it: without any doubt a Serie A city. For the economy, tourism, and also soccer: we will bring Triestina back to A". These are the words of Ben Rosenzweig, a young investor who in Atlanta, Georgia, created his own fund, LBK, with which he bought Triestina less than a year ago, saving it from bankruptcy and betting on a team that has not seen Serie A for 65 years. A bold bet, but a logical one in the eyes of this 36-year-old businessman: “I wanted to invest in soccer, which has now crossed the boundaries of a mere sport to reach wider cultural spheres and, therefore, able to connect with wider audiences and with a higher degree of diversity”. Ben has no Italian roots, no friendships in Trieste - he discovered it by studying Italy and the opportunities it offers for growth, not only in soccer. In the first year of American management, Triestina failed to climb to Serie B but came close to promotion (finishing fourth), in a season marked by the resurfacing of the pitch that forced the team to play almost all of its league matches outside Trieste. Now there is a new coach, Michele Santoni, who comes from the Dutch league, and a team ready for the buying campaign. Next Goal: Serie A.
