In 2023, 39% of Italian adults committed at least one act of piracy, illegally enjoying movies, series, dramas, programs or live sports. The figure, which emerges from the survey on audiovisual piracy in Italy in 2023 by the IPSOS institute on behalf of the FAPAV no-profit association, is still 3 percentage points lower than the previous year. In total, there are an estimated 319 million acts of piracy compared to 345 million in 2022. Pirates are more concentrated among those under 35, predominantly employed, possess a higher level of education than the average Italian population, and are geographically more concentrated in the south and islands.
