There is an appeal by the mayors of Calabria, led by the first citizen of Catanzaro, Nicola Fiorita, for the region to challenge before the Constitutional Court the bill on differentiated autonomy. The appeal, called "One Italy", has already gathered more than seventy endorsements in a few hours. "The law contains clear elements of unconstitutionality and undermines in its foundations the unity of the country, taking away substantial resources and functions from the southern regions, such as to compromise the constitutional values of equality and the rights to health, work and education of all citizens," the appeal reads. It goes on to say, “The provisions of the law would, if implemented, create unacceptable discrimination between citizens of northern regions and those of the South, especially in vital areas such as public health and education”.
