The Board of Directors of the Italian National Commission for UNESCO, chaired by Franco Bernabè, approved "The Villa-Farm system in Chianti Classico" as Italy's candidacy for preliminary verification for inscription on the World Heritage List of the UNESCO Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. If the advisory bodies approve the candidacy, it will be officially submitted to the UNESCO World Heritage Centre by 1 February 2027, with an assessment due in 2028.
