Following its visits to Salt Lake City (USA), Chile, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Peru, and Toronto, ITALEA, a Roots Tourism project of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will be in São Paulo from today until June 30th. This is in honor of the Feast of St. Vitus, a folkloric celebration hosted by the San Vito Martire Charitable Association. ITALEA Puglia and Campania representatives will attend the mission in São Paulo. St. Vitus is not only the patron saint of Polignano a Mare (Bari), but he is also revered in many other Italian and foreign cities. An example of this devotion is the feast organized by the Polignano community in São Paulo. Year after year, the event attracts an increasing number of Italians and their descendants, who continue to enhance and promote Italian culture, folklore, traditions, and roots. And ITALEA could not miss the appointment in 2024, the World Year of Italian Roots, which is dedicated to welcoming Italian-descendants back to their home countries. In fact, the project aims to strengthen ties with Italian communities abroad.
