Great success for Riccardo Muti's concert dedicated to Giacomo Puccini on June 28th, during the centenary year celebrations. The event was broadcast in over 140 countries across five continents, with an estimated audience of 20 million people (out of a total of 250 million). The event drew over 700,000 viewers in Italy alone, accounting for a 5% share on RAI3. "Thanks to Riccardo Muti, we have created an event that has been able to tell, in a respectful way, the artistic genius of Giacomo Puccini and the legacy of immortal music he left", said the Undersecretary of Culture, Gianmarco Mazzi. "In Lucca, we had an enchanting evening thanks to the greatness of the Cherubini Orchestra, expertly conducted by Muti, and the enthusiasm of the audience at the Historic Walls. I was pleased to see Dustin Hoffman applaud the talented performers on stage. A sign that confirms this art's strong international appeal".
