In Italy, more than 2.3 million people aged 15 to 70 have experienced at least one form of workplace harassment in their lifetime, with women accounting for 81.6%, or approximately 1 million 900 thousand. This is the figure from the Istat report "Harassment: Victims and Context" for the years 2022–2023. During that time, it is estimated that 13.5% of women aged 15-70 who work or have worked have experienced sexual harassment at work (particularly among the youngest, aged 15-24, 21.2%), as have 2.4% of men aged 15-70. These include offensive looks, insults, indecent proposals, and more serious acts like physical harassment. For the three years preceding the 2022-2023 survey, quotas were set at 4.2% for women and 1% for men. Harassment also occurs outside of the workplace: in the same reference period, 6.4% of women aged 14 to 70 and 2.7% of men of the same age were victims. Approximately half of this harassment occurs through the use of technology (email messages, chats, or social media).
