"We are aware that the scientific evidence is not available to everyone, as very complex subjects, but we believe that the time has really come to make available what the scientific community has developed on the impact of exposure to air pollutants in the developmental stage of the fetus, an impact that can even result in abnormal brain development". These are the words of Anna Gerometta, President of the association Citizens for Air, who yesterday submitted the Children's Air Pact to the Chamber of Deputies. "Policies must go in the direction of protecting not only pregnant women, but children and adolescents, who are at risk of being seriously harmed," added Gerometta - What we are asking the parliamentarians is to get active by spreading this information, to help us promote new actions that can improve the situation in Italy, to integrate the level of information of the population, because if so many parliamentarians are not aware of the seriousness of the damage that can be caused to children, let alone citizens: we therefore ask Parliament to help us build a communication campaign". "We hope," concludes Gerometta, “that many parliamentarians will adhere, that this issue can be part of those of the newly formed intergroup on childhood and climate change, an issue that can change the lives of children who instead have the right to a healthy life”.
