Cardinal Camillo Ruini, 93, is hospitalized in intensive care at Rome's Policlinico Gemelli. He felt ill late Saturday afternoon, apparently from a heart attack, and is in intensive care at the Roman hospital where he was rushed. Vicariate sources report. The cardinal turned 93 on February 19. In recent days he had given a lengthy interview to the Corriere della Sera paper revealing some background in the relations between the Italian Church and politics, since he held key roles for decades, both in the Vicariate and in the CEI. From 1991 to 2007 he was president of the Italian Bishops' Conference. The last time he had serious health problems, at least according to official reports, was in 2015 when he was hospitalized at the Neuromed research institute in Pozzilli (Isernia) for assessments. A message was reportedly circulated today in which Bishop Guerino di Tora invited people to pray for his health.
