The Bologna Court of Appeal confirmed a life sentence for former National Vanguard terrorist Paolo Bellini in the trial over the August 2, 1980 Bologna Station massacre. The ruling came after a six-hour council chamber session. Bellini was charged in conspiracy with already convicted former Nar members Giusva Fioravanti, Francesca Mambro, Luigi Ciavardini and Gilberto Cavallini. And with Licio Gelli, Umberto Ortolani, Federico Umberto D'Amato and Mario Tedeschi, all dead and no longer indictable, but believed to have been principals, financiers or organizers of the bombing.
