An investigation has been opened to ascertain the causes of death of a man who died in Colle Isarco, in South Tyrol, following an illness, after the carabinieri allegedly used the taser to stop him. The Bolzano Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered the autopsy as part of a criminal case opened against unknown persons. The man had called 112 in an evident state of agitation, reporting the presence of unspecified people outside his room. The military who intervened with medical personnel tried to enter the apartment but the man, in a state of confusion (perhaps due to the use of alcohol and drugs), would have refused going into a rage. Then he would have thrown himself from the window from a height of about 2 and a half meters and despite the violent fall he got up and tried to attack the carabinieri who at that point would have used the taser to stop him and finally, since he continued to resist, they would have immobilized him on the ground. After being immobilized, the 118 staff intervened in order to proceed with treatment. After a few minutes, however, - the carabinieri inform in a statement - the subject fell ill: the doctor carried out resuscitation maneuvers but the man was struck by a cardiocirculatory arrest dying after more than an hour.
