Two mountaineers died after falling to their deaths in Val Ferret, in the municipality of Courmayeur, in the province of Aosta, due to the probable failure of an anchorage. It happened on the afternoon of July 14, on Mont Greuvetta in the Mont Blanc range. The alarm was raised by a third climber who remained on the wall. The surviving man was recovered at an altitude of 3,500 meters by the Aosta Valley Alpine Rescue helicopter. According to rescuers, the third mountaineer who remained on the wall managed to save himself because the rope that tied him to his two fallen companions snapped. The bodies of the other two climbing partners were recovered lifeless. The exact dynamics of the accident and recognition and forensic operations are entrusted to the Entreves-Courmayeur SAGF, the Alpine Rescue of the Guardia di Finanza.
