Italy, with 57.2 million international visitors, was the fourth most visited country in the world in 2023, after France, Spain and the United States. This is according to "Globetrotters are driving the tourism rebound", a study just released by Allianz Trade that analyzes global tourism trends. Data collected through May 2024 say that since the beginning of the year, international tourist arrivals in Italy have increased by +7% (compared to the same period in 2023) and are expected, at the conclusion of 2024, to reach growth close to 10%. Moreover, in May, the hotel occupancy rate in Italy was 78%, 10 points higher than the world average, which was 68% (also in May). In terms of revenue from international tourism, Italy ranked 5th in 2023, grossing $55.9 billion, while Italians ranked 7th in terms of spending on tourism abroad, with $34.2 billion.
