The Strait of Messina was successfully traversed by a group of 30 fearless swimmers from various regions of Italy yesterday morning, who defied the open sea and its currents by swimming stroke after stroke. An even more remarkable achievement because it was carried out by Parkinson's patients alongside their families, and the neurologists who treat them. The LIMPE Foundation for Parkinson Onlus is currently promoting the Swim for Parkinson initiative, which is in its fourth edition. The purpose of this initiative is to increase public awareness of this neurodegenerative disease and to raise funds for the Outdoor Project, which aims to enhance the quality of life of individuals with Parkinson's disease through physical activity.
